The title of this article speaks volume about what I am going to discuss. However, many people will be perplexed just reading the title and wondering what danger gaming really causes. It is difficult for many people to understand why they need to protect themselves physically and mentally while gaming. Gaming is not perceived to be harmful to human beings. Unlike in the traditional sporting activities, one cannot break their bones while playing. When we play games, we are not exposed to danger like when we are cooking nor do we expose out brain to stress like when doing a test. But just because you do not perceive any danger posed by gaming, it does not mean that there aren’t any underlying threats. In this article, I shall discuss some of the threats posed by gaming and how to combat them.

Passionate gamers concentrate on avoiding hackers and cyber criminals that they forget about protecting themselves from gaming itself. Having a bad posture is one of the plights that can creep on you when game excessively. This results from sitting at the console for a long period. Bad posture is not like the other condition which creeps on you immediately. Rather, it leads to back and neck problem later on. To avoid these problems, you are required to find a comfortable gaming desk and ergonomic. A comfortable gaming desk will surely help you avoid fatigue now, and a bad and in the future.

It is also important to shield yourself from mental issue when gaming. Playing too much video games for long hours can be addictive. Some common symptoms of addiction are restlessness especially when you are not able to play. Even when you are not playing your mind is preoccupied with gaming. You go to the extent of lying about your behaviour to your friends and family. If you realise that these symptoms have manifested in your behaviour you need to make a decision to control your addiction because it has the capacity to reduce the quality of life you live. Gaming is a competition and games are not meant to be completed. Do not let the thoughts of failure preoccupy your mind because games are designed to make you fail.

It is important not to be dependent with gaming, and when this happens you should make an effort to understand why it is so. Some games make you feel like you cannot achieve success. Regardless, you have to distinguish this from reality. Always make an effort to fight off the problems brought about by excessive gaming because they are dangerous. Ultimately, you cannot avoid gaming, but you have to be aware of the possible plights so that you can avoid them.
